I think 2.1 EDR is at the top – I believe that your hardware is just fine. If you have any problem, it will be the software. Widcomm seems to be best regarded. BlueSoile(?) is also OK. Winxp bluetooth is supposed to be poor. I don’t have bluetooth – just got a phone with it, for fun, I bought a cheap bluetooth dongle from buyextras.com and it comes with the widcomm software — does everything – I even bought a cheap stereo headset – my swell blackberry can’t hack it – in multiple ways, but my pc does just fine with all. I’d say if you mess around and find it a pain, just get what I got ($10 total) and it comes with the software. You’ll have to plug it into a USB port to use it -but that could save a lot of hassle fooling with Wild Willy Gates software. The software does check to see that you have an acceptable bluetooth device, so you might not get away with simply using the software with the bluetooth that is already there. On the other hand, for $10, do you need to?
